YMCA’s “Make a Splash” Program Expands to Caldwell

Category: Community

YMCAJacksons Food Stores is excited to partner with the YMCA and the “Make a Splash” program, which focuses on teaching 3rd graders in the Treasure Valley how to swim and be safe around water. Jacksons was happy to support the expansion to the Caldwell YMCA and was able to donate $25,000 to the program, which will also include area schools such as Homedale and Vallivue school districts. Over 1,000 3rd graders in the Caldwell area will go through the swimming lesson program.

The "Make a Splash" program not only prevents the incidence of drowning, but also provides youth with confidence and instills character values.  In addition to learning necessary water safety skills, teachers have documented that students in the Make a Splash program have shown an improvement in classroom behavior, increased classroom productivity and greater enthusiasm for learning. Classes begin on September 18th at the Caldwell YMCA branch.
