Gift of Peace badgeIn the 10th anniversary year of the “Give the Gift of Peace” campaign, Jacksons Food Stores and its customers donated a total of $161,369 ($86,369 from customer donations and $75,000 matched by Jacksons) as part of the commitment to create Compassionate Communities.

“Jacksons Food Stores is pleased to support this important campaign to prevent domestic violence in our communities. Together, we thank our customers for generously responding to the campaign to increase the level of support for victims of domestic violence for the past 10 years,” said Jacksons Food Stores Owner John Jackson.

This donation marks the highest level of contribution in the program’s history. Since the inception of the campaign, the northwest has raised over $750,000 in total. The campaign ran from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. Jacksons sold paper doves in $1, $5 and $10 increments in all of their stores in all four states of operation to raise funds for the prevention, education and support for victims of domestic violence and their children and adolescents experiencing relationship abuse. Each state’s money stays local. The totals by state include: Idaho $56,008; Oregon $49,364; Washington $33,070; Nevada $22,927.

“Living a life free of violence is a basic right for everyone and it goes against our values when women and girls are abused,” said Idaho Coalition Executive Director Kelly Miller. “Ending violence in all its forms is the responsibility of every one of us; and because of this generosity from Jacksons and our fellow Idahoans, we are to help enhance safety for victims of domestic violence and ensure systemic change in our communities.”
